One-storey workshop extension for Scarborough TEC Automotive, Construction & Engineering Centre

Work: The planning phase involved collaboration between Scarborough TEC, architects, engineers, and our construction team to design a space-efficient layout meeting specific trade requirements. The construction process included key stages such as site preparation, foundation and structure building, roofing and wall installation, integration of electrical and plumbing systems, flooring and finishes application, equipment installation, and the incorporation of safety measures. Compliance and testing ensured all work met safety regulations and industry standards.

BACKGROUND

The demand for skilled professionals across diverse industries continues to rise, necessitating comprehensive training programs that incorporate practical applications. Recognizing this need, Scarborough TEC partnered with us to extend their existing workshop facility and cater to a broader range of vocational training programs. The project aimed to create a spacious, well-equipped, and versatile environment where students and apprentices could gain hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced instructors.

PLANNING AND DESIGN

The planning phase involved collaboration between Scarborough TEC, architects, engineers, and our construction team. The aim was to develop a design that maximized the available space while meeting the specific requirements of each trade. The layout incorporated separate sections for different disciplines, allowing for a focused learning experience. Considerations were given to the placement of equipment, storage space, accessibility, natural lighting, ventilation, and futureproofing.

CONSTRUCTION

  • Flooring and finishes: Laying suitable flooring materials and applying finishes to create a safe and visually appealing environment.
