Muffin Break Bolton Fit Out

Work: Full Fit Out, Services Installation, Enabling Works.

Achieved: Completed On Time, Allowing Store Opening Before Christmas, Within Budget, High End Finish.

We were recently commissioned by Food Co, an expanding coffee shop and restaurant brand in the UK, to undertake an extensive shop fit-out for their popular store located in the stunning Marketplace Bolton.

The client's vision was to create an inviting space that would reflect their brand's identity, continued franchise image and produce an offering different from competing coffee brands nearby. This project presented an exciting opportunity to showcase our expertise not only interior works, but our ability as a Principal Contractor to perform enabling works, new services and in house joinery manufacturing.

PROJECT GOALS

Warming and Inviting Aesthetic: To design and implement a warming and inviting store environment that aligns with Muffin Break’s model and image.

Enhanced Functionality: To maximise the available space efficiently, ensuring easy access for customers, seating arrangements in relation to more durable surfaces, while also providing custom till and display areas.

Brand Image: To integrate Muffin Break's branding elements throughout the shop to reinforce brand recognition and create a cohesive brand that is instantly recognisable across the UK.

Durability and Sustainability: To use eco-friendly and durable materials, promoting a sustainable approach while ensuring longevity in the design. This includes the joinery manufacture. steel fabrication and services planning to ensure the smooth running of the business for the foreseable.

Timely Completion: To meet the strict timeline of completing the fit-out within three weeks to allow December trading.

PROJECT EXECUTION

Permit and Planning: Before starting construction, we obtained all necessary permits and approvals from local authorities and shopping centre management. Additionally, a detailed project plan was created, outlining the various stages of the renovation and setting milestones for progress tracking.

Renovation of the Existing Space: The unit underwent complete transformation. As the unit was completely bare, we had to bring in all services and perform the required enabling works to change the use into a cafe format. Large glass storefront windows were kept and made good to allow the cafe to stand out next to retailers like Primark.

Product Display and Custom Manufacturing: Custom-designed display units are fitted on top of the counter, designed and built by our in house joinery manufacturing divison. We also fabricated the back of house stainless steel to perfectly fit around the stores baking requirements. All steel design features were fabricated and installed by our in house teams.

Branding and Signage: Muffin Break's logo and signature branding elements were thoughtfully incorporated into the store design. This included larger features like the rear Halo-lit Muffin Break Signage and more subtle features like the vinyl writing on the baking mixer glassworks.

Checkout and Point-of-Sale Area: The checkout area was strategically positioned near the store's exit for smooth customer flow. Sleek, modern POS terminals were integrated, ensuring a swift and efficient purchasing process.

CONCLUSION

The Muffin Break Bolton store fit-out project was a tremendous success.

The new store design achieved the client's vision of a warming and inviting cafe environment that not only serves as a place to grab a quick cappuchino, but somewhere to sit, catch up and enjoy one of the freshly baked goods.

The cohesive integration of the brand's identity throughout the space strengthened Muffin Break's market presence in the north west region. The project was completed within the three-week timeline, enabling the store to open its doors to the public just in time for December trading.

Our team at James Carson Construction Group takes pride in contributing to the success of this transformative fit-out, and we look forward to further collaborations with hospitality brands seeking unique space transformations.
