Tresspass Workington
Shop fit out of Trespass store in the Lake District (Workington) for a modern retail experience
Goals: Contemporary aesthetic, brand immersion, sustainability
Work: Included ground floor refurbishment, second-floor expansion, and strategic layout planning
Achieved: Completed within three months, enhancing brand presence and retail experience
We were recently tasked by Trespass a prominent outdoor clothing and equipment brand, to undertake a comprehensive shop fit-out for one of their popular stores located in the bustling Lake District.
The client's vision was to create a new modern retail space that would reflect their brand's identity and elevate the shopping experience for their customers. The project was an exciting opportunity to showcase our expertise in retail interior design and construction as the store was spread across two floors, necessitating a full renovation.
PROJECT GOALS
Modern Aesthetic: To design and implement a contemporary and inviting store environment that aligns with Trespass’s adventurous spirit and rugged outdoor brand image.
Enhanced Functionality: To maximize the available space efficiently, ensuring seamless flow and easy access for customers, while also providing dedicated areas for product display, fitting rooms, and checkout.
Brand Immersion: To integrate Trespass's branding elements throughout the store to reinforce brand recognition and create a cohesive shopping experience.
Durability and Sustainability: To use eco-friendly and durable materials, promoting a sustainable approach while ensuring longevity in the design.
Timely Completion: To meet the strict timeline of completing the fit-out within three months, ensuring the store's launch before the start of the peak outdoor activity season.
PROJECT EXECUTION
Permitting and Planning: Before commencing any construction work, we obtained all necessary permits and approvals from local authorities and shopping centre leads. Additionally, a detailed project plan was created, outlining the various stages of the renovation and setting milestones for progress tracking.
Renovation of the Ground Floor: The ground floor received a complete transformation. The existing fixtures and partitions were dismantled, evoking a natural yet modern feel. We installed large glass storefront windows to allow ample natural light, showcasing the store's interior to passersby.
Product Display and Fitting Rooms: We strategically positioned custom-designed display units crafted from reclaimed wood to showcase Trespass's latest products effectively. Fitting rooms were integrated with motion-activated smart mirrors that displayed additional product information and complementary items based on what the customer brought inside.
Branding and Signage: Trespass's logo and signature branding elements were thoughtfully incorporated into the store design. The company's slogan, "Unleash Your Adventurer Within," adorned one of the main walls using laser-cut metal lettering. A topographical map mural was also installed, reflecting the brand's passion for exploring nature.
Second-Floor Expansion: To optimize the available space, we expanded the store to the second floor. A stylish central staircase with metal railings and wooden steps was built to connect the two levels seamlessly. This expansion allowed for an extended product range and created a more immersive shopping experience.
Second-Floor Design: The second floor was dedicated to specialized product categories like camping gear, climbing equipment, and extreme weather clothing. We utilized a combination of exposed brickwork and contemporary display fixtures to complement the adventurous theme.
Checkout and Point-of-Sale Area: The checkout area was strategically positioned near the store's exit for smooth customer flow. Sleek, modern POS terminals were integrated, ensuring a swift and efficient purchasing process.
